EHTV Episode 04: Niagara, Manufactured Waterscapes

Download episode

On this episode of EHTV, Daniel Macfarlane, a SSHRC post-doctoral research fellow from the Department of History at Carleton University, takes us on a tour of the hydro-electric landscape of Niagara Falls. Both the site of mass nature tourism and mass power generation, the manufactured waterscape of Niagara Falls presents a complex history of human-nature interactions, some of which can be explored in Dr. Macfarlane’s research on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

You can also read some of Dan’s work on The Otter, the Canadian environmental history blog.
