For years, the Nature/History/Society lecture series, a Canadian environmental history series based out of the University of British Columbia, has featured leading new research in the field to audiences in Vancouver. Starting next week, the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies at York University will be bringing a similar series to Toronto called Transforming Canada: Histories of Environmental Change [PDF].
On Monday, October 3rd, Professor Matthew Evenden from the Department of Geography at UBC will kick-off the series at York University by speaking about his research on the Canadian environment during the Second World War. Readers can find some of this research published in Environmental History earlier this year. Matthew Evenden is also the author of Fish Versus Power: An Environmental History of the Fraser River and co-author of The River Returns: An Environmental History of the Bow.
